Throughout her career, Dr. Schwartz has advocated for upholding the highest standards of care in medicine and mental health. Her most recent advocacy centers on gender affirmation in medicine, particularly unsubstantiated interventions such as puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgical procedures, for minors and vulnerable adults.

She authored two appendices for Dr. Miriam Grossman, which were included in her book, Lost in Trans Nation, A Child Psychiatrist’s Guide Out of the Madness.

Through her work with Dr. Grossman and other advocacy organizations, Dr. Schwartz has continued to raise public awareness regarding gender ideology in medicine and psychotherapy and, more generally, regarding the duty of physicians to treat every patient with dignity, respect, empathy and compassion through excellence in medicine and mental health.
